Schon früh hatte Herbert Grönemeyer die
Schauspielerin Anna Henkel kennengelernt. Bei
den Dreharbeiten zu „Uns reicht das nicht“ kamen
sie sich näher. Er hat zwei Kinder mit ihr und
heiratete sie 1993. Er widmete ihr das Album
„Total egal“ und als sie dann 1998 an Brustkrebs
starb, folgte das Album „Mensch“, hier war es
insbesondere das Lied „Der Weg“, in dem er seine
Gefühle herzbewegend ins Wort fasste. Grönemeyer
verkraftete den
Tod seiner Frau nur schlecht.
Zwei Tage vor ihrem Tod starb auch sein Bruder
Wilhelm. Grönemeyer zog sich eine Zeitlang aus
der Musikbranche zurück, um für sich in Ruhe zu
trauern.
